Jon Donohue
Pastor
In July 2018, I was called and blessed to come on board as Pastor at Alliance Bible Church. Alaska feels like home and my family is thrilled to serve God in the Anchorage community.
After growing up in Danville, California, I spent two years of college in Arizona and then transferred to the University of Oregon in Eugene (Go Ducks!). I met my wife, Susan, through our church college ministry, and we married in 1998. We moved to Anchorage for three years and then moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Western Seminary. I graduated with a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry (2005). Susan received a Master of Arts in Pastoral Care to Women (2007) and a Certificate in Transformational Coaching (2019). We have three amazing kids ranging from ages 9-15.
For ministry, I served as a Chaplain at a retirement home in Portland for three years, then as a lead pastor and church planter in Southwest Washington for 12 years.
On a free day, I love to be outdoors hiking/backpacking, biking, cross-country skiing, or kayaking. Being in nature is my means of retreat and God's creation has a way of refocusing me on Him, my calling, and the broader picture and/or simpler things in life. Given a free hour or two, I enjoy reading about the Christ-centered life, ministry, and history. On Saturdays in the fall, you will find my family cheering on the Oregon Ducks football team!
My passion in life is knowing Jesus deeply, living like Jesus consistently, and sharing Him passionately. As I know Him more, I'm more consumed with the drive and desire to be like Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit for this hurting world. The people of Alliance Bible Church have the same heart and leading our church family is a joy!
